GammaSpec-V2: Portable Spectrometer with 2" NaI scintillator, PMT, 2K MCA

Spectrometer with the 2K MCA and a laptop. Spectrum is a mix of 60Co,137Cs

Mixed Source : 241Am, 137Cs, 60Co. Also visible are the pile up monitor and total CPS monitors (Instantaneous, Average values).

This compact unit is USB powered and consumes around 200mA including the HV and electronics. The MCA is a 2K channel list mode acquisition device which also supplies the HV signal via an adjustable DAC. The low power consumption ensures that it can be runs off of USB power for several hours from a laptop.
An Android app is also being developed to run it from a phone .

Backscatter from a small aluminium box. Didn't have a solid block available, but you can see the small enhancement of counts in the red region (180keV) when the box is placed

The software is downloadable from the link below, and installers are available for Ubuntu as well as Windows.
